Chocolate Mousse Cake

Ingredients

– 3/4 cup (90g) all-purpose flour – 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder – 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar – 1/2 tsp baking soda – 1/4 tsp baking powder – 1/4 tsp salt – 1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk – 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil – 1 large egg – 1 tsp vanilla extract – 1/2 cup (120ml) hot water

Prepare the Cake Layer

– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper.

– In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

– Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until well combined.

– Gradually add hot water, mixing until smooth. The batter will be thin.

– Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

– Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
